ASU represented at D. C. anniversary

Some Albany State University students are back in Albany, after they joined thousands of people to commemorate the march on Washington.

The ASU students say the purpose of their trip was to learn more about the civil rights movement and inspire them to put fire in the communities here in South Georgia.

Some of the students got a chance to meet people who participated in the original march and heard Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. give his 'I have a Dream' speech, 50 years ago.

"It was a humbling experience," said ASU Student Kevius Bass. "It was an experience that I never thought I would get a chance to meet someone of their caliber. When you see people like that, that have been through struggle, that fight for the rights for me to actually stand here and be on TV, it's amazing to meet those people and hear what they have to say."

The four students got back from their trip Sunday night. One student says many of the topics the speakers addressed are still relevant today.
