Saucier Lady Sharks choose to help others before themselves.

SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) -

A group of middle school basketball players in Saucier was washing cars for a good cause Saturday.

The Lady Sharks could be raising money for new uniforms, but instead; they wanted to build a basketball court for the DELL-A-PAY Deaf Center.

The fundraiser has no affiliation with North Woolmarket Middle School. They simply decided, as a group of girls who happen to be team mates, that they wanted to do something for others.

The ladies raised $902. Their coach, Tanya Ray Adams, says she has never had a team of girls so concerned about helping others.

"It chokes me up. It brings tears to my eyes. I have a handicapped brother, so I know the importance of what they're doing," said Adams.

The girls say they love basketball and they just wanted the kids at DELL-A-PAY to be able to play, too.
