Know Before You Go: Week of August 26

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here's the scheduled construction update for the week of August 26.

Work on the downtown and east end bridges will causing the following traffic changes this week. All information is provided by the Ohio River Bridges group and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and is subject to change without notice.

Work scheduled to begin Monday, August 26:

The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North is scheduled to close overnight (August 26-30) for demolition work in the area. It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to close overnight  (August 26-30) for demolition work in the area.  It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

The right lane of I-64 West to the I-65 South ramp from Witherspoon Street to Main Street is scheduled to close overnight (August 26-30) for demolition work in the area.  It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

The right lane of I-65 South from the Kennedy Bridge to Market Street is scheduled to close overnight all week for demolition work in the area.  It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 27:

The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday and Wednesday (August 27-28) for temporary striping and the placement of temporary barrier wall.  It is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.

Louisville Streets:

Overnight lane restrictions are expected on Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Clay Street Tuesday and Wednesday (August 27-28) for demolition work in the area.  One lane will be open in each direction.

The right lane of Hancock Street from Market Street to Main Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday (August 27-30) for utility work.

The right lane of Jackson Street from Market to Main Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday (August 27-30) for utility work.

One lane of Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, August 27 for work in the area.

Indiana Side:

US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue will be reduced to two lanes for the next several months.

US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, will be reduced to one lane for the next several months.  Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street.

Work scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 3 (as of 8/28/13):

The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight next Tuesday and Wednesday (September 3-4) for temporary striping and the placement of temporary barrier wall.  It's scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.

One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to I-65 is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, September 3 for re striping.  It's scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The right lane of I-64 East from I-65 to the I-71 North exit ramp is scheduled to close overnight next Tuesday and Wednesday (September 3-4) to construct temporary pavement in the area.  It's scheduled to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur. Also, given the aggressive overall construction schedule for the project, Walsh DBT may shift work schedules when opportunities arise. General Construction Notes:

A new traffic signal at Taylorsville Road and Old Heady Road is scheduled to be activated on Thursday, August 29.

The traffic signal was installed as part of an intersection improvement project that included turning lane construction.
