SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Scottsdale police arrested a man they said broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, assaulted her and barricaded himself in the crawl space late Thursday night.

The woman called police about 11 p.m. as her boyfriend, 38-year-old Keith Lynch, was trying to get in through the front window of the apartment near Indian School and Miller roads. Police said the woman was assaulted before she was forced from her home.

The 24-year-old victim suffered only minor injuries and was expected to be OK.

Police said they believed the suspect was armed when he moved into the crawl space so they evacuated about 50 people, many of whom were rousted from bed in only their pajamas or underwear, police said.

The standoff lasted about an hour before a police dog swept the unit and Lynch eventually gave up and was taken into custody.
