Man killed in Rankin County crash

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal wreck in Northwest Rankin County. The victim of that accident is 25 year-old Albert Sullivan.

Sullivan was traveling north on Highway 25 around 4:15 Friday morning when he veered off the road. He hit one tree and then spun into another one.

When troopers arrived on the scene, the 2002 Saturn Sullivan was driving was completely mangled and crushed. Sullivan was the only person in the vehicle.

Mississippi Highway Patrol officials said it's possible Sullivan wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

TFC Eric Henry said wearing your seatbelt "can save your life and make a determination whether you go home or not. Just be safe, be aware of your surroundings as your making your travel."

Sullivan would have turned 26 years-old August 29. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
