HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Testimony in the sentencing phase of Timothy Evans's capital murder trial ended Thursday evening. Jurors will begin deliberating Friday morning whether Evans should be put to death for the murder of his landlord Wenda Holling.
It took the jury just two hours Thursday morning to find Evans guilty of the 2010 crime. After that, jurors heard from two psychologists who talked about the defendant's mental state at the time of the murder, his history of alcohol and drug abuse, as well as his troubled childhood.
A unanimous decision from the jury is required in order to impose the death penalty.
