JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police have arrested a woman who they said tried to flee a hit-and-run accident, and they got some help from Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

The accident occurred on Interstate 20 near Gallatin Street. Sheriff Pace saw the accident in his rear view mirror. When the driver didn't stop, he slowed and got behind the car, following at a safe distance.

Sheriff Pace called 911 and relayed his location information. The car exited I-20 at Robinson, then turned west on Highway 80. Jackson police officers stopped the vehicle at Westhaven Drive.

Sheriff Pace left his card with the JPD patrolman and headed back to Vicksburg.
