Father and son arrested in drug bust

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A Springfield father and son were arrested after they were caught growing more than tomatoes in their backyard garden.

Police confiscated more than 50 marijuana plants from their home at 95 Merida Street.

Police were tipped off about the alleged marijuana operation after 45 year-old Michael Oliverio went around bragging to people he didn't have to work because business was booming.

Michael and his 74-year-old father Ronald faces a slew of drug charges. Police seized 57 marijuana plants that weighed in at 47 pounds. They also confiscated close to $8,000.
