Traffic moving on I-10 following car fire in Jackson County

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Eastbound traffic on I-10 is moving once again, following a car fire near the Highway 57 exit in Jackson County.

Highway Patrol told WLOX News the fire stalled traffic for about an hour Tuesday morning as crews worked to clear the scene. Drivers stuck in traffic said cars were backed up for about five miles. No word yet on what caused the blaze, or if anyone was injured.

Earlier Tuesday, another vehicle fire in Stone County forced officials to close the south bound lane of Highway 15.  Stone County fire officials tell WLOX News a woman and two children were inside the truck that hit a tree and burst into flames. All three were transported to Biloxi Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. No word yet on what caused that accident.
