Coach Sean Harden is rebuilding the West Harrison Hurricanes

Sean Harden was selected as the coach to rebuild West Harrison and he brings experience to the Hurricanes.

He was head coach at Long Beach High School and built the Bearcats into playoff contenders. Harden beat out 24 others candidates for the West Harrison head coaching job.

Harden said,"The kids are doing everything we ask them to do. The administration is helping us out, the teachers are helping us out. I think there's going to be some baby steps but we've got it going in the right direction."@

6-1, 190 pound senior Jacques Pucheu is getting the call at quarterback. He's getting excellent coaching from Hurricanes new offensive coordinator Mickey D'Angelo, the former Long Beach High and Southern Miss standout.

Coach Harden likes what he sees in Pucheu.

"Jacques is one of the most competitive kids that I've ever been around," stated Harden. "He's very confident, great young man. I've known him since the eighth grade and he's been the same way. Believes he should be out there, wants to be out there, just highly highly competitive."

Coach Harden will be counting on a number of Hurricane players to hit the playing field on both offense and defense.

Besides playing running back, 6-foot, 210 pound senior Anthony Dean, will be manning a linebacker position as well.

Dean said,"I believe I'm a balanced running back, have enough speed and I can bring some power too."

6 foot, 260 pound senior Javin Saucier is a starting center and linebacker, ready to do what he can in helping the Hurricanes get under the win column. He says coach Harden has instituted a get-tough attitude.

"He brings a lot of enthusiasm out here. We have tough practices and we get through it real good," stated Saucier.

6-foot, 200 pound senior LeDerick Martin is another solid linebacker and wide receiver who can run with the football, as proven in this goal line drill at practice.

West Harrison is rebuilding but has the talent to pull off a couple of upsets in the tough Region 4-5A ranks.

The Hurricanes open the 2013 season August 31st. hosting Harrison Central in a first-ever meeting on the football turf between the Hurricanes and Red Rebels.
