City of Booneville has firearms ordinance

Posted: Updated:

The open carrying of firearms and other weapons will be prohibited at many locations in the city of Booneville under an ordinance approved by the Board of Aldermen.

The new law went into effect immediately. Officials say it is designed to align city policies with state law.

City Attorney Daniel Tucker drafted the ordinance.

The measure prohibits the open carrying of firearms at Booneville City Hall, all public parks and related fields and facilities, any location where public meetings of the city take place and all parades, official political meetings and any non-firearm related school or college athletic event.
