SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A woman is under arrest for allegedly starting a fire in Springfield Thursday night.

Springfield firefighters responded to a house fire at 119-121 Maynard Street in the Mason Square neighborhood just after 8 p.m.

Flames tore through the home. One firefighter also had to be taken to the hospital with a leg injury. He is expected to be OK.

Fire officials say Michelle Kotarski has been arrested for allegedly lighting the couch on the porch on fire.

They say Kotarski lives on the second floor of that home.

About $80,000 in damage was done to the home, and the home next door received about $10,000 in damage as well.
