On Monday two men were each charged with misdemeanors through the Harrison County Sheriff's Office over a pet dog.

According to Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara, 33-year-old John Allen Hendley of the 14000 block of Cardinal Cove in Gulfport faces a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty. Briolara said that charge stems after Hendley allegedly shot and killed his neighbor's dog.

The neighbor and owner of the dog, 41-year-old Ramiro Orozco of the 14000 John Clark Road in Gulfport was charged with a misdemeanor charge of leash law violation.

Brisolara said a private affidavit was issued after Orozco's dog reportedly ran loose in the area. A warrant for Orozco was then issued for a leash law violation. A warrant was also issued on Hendley for animal cruelty. Both men turned themselves into authorities, according to Brisolara. They were released on their own recognizance.
