HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two trucks were involved in an accident on Interstate 20 westbound in Hind County early Tuesday morning.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, it happened before 4 a.m. at mile marker 28

The wreck temporarily shut down the westbound lanes.  Around 4:30 a.m., crews were able to open the left lane to traffic, but there was a significant backup.  All lanes of the interstate reopened before 9 a.m.

The 18 wheeler belonged to a company called JWH out of Georgia.  It was parked on the side of I-20 when a Penske rental truck struck its rear trailer.  FedEx was renting the Penske truck to deliver mail, according to MHP. The driver was from Louisiana.

The drivers of both trucks were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.
