JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Forest police say the suspect in the robbery and beating of a man at a Forest motel Sunday morning has turned himself in.

Willie Thigpen turned himself in Tuesday night and is currently being held in the Scott County detention center on $100,000 bond.

Forest Police Chief Will Jones says police responded to the Forest Motel just before 2 a.m. Sunday about a man who had been beaten up and robbed.

The unidentified victim told officers that Thigpen stole his wallet and his vehicle and then hit him with his fists and beer bottles, Jones said.

The victim's vehicle was found outside the city near West Moore Tower Road. The vehicle had been burned and someone had tried to push it into a creek, Jones said.

The victim is being treated for injuries to his face at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Jones said the victim and suspect know each other.
