Man gets 10 years for intentionally exposing person to HIV

MERIDIAN, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Meridian man has been given the maximum sentence for intentionally exposing a vulnerable person to human immunodeficiency virus.

Attorney General Jim Hood announced Monday that Laderrick Rencher, 37, will serve 10 years for one count of knowingly exposing another person to HIV.

The crime happened in January 2012 when the victim and Rencher were both patients at Alliance Health Center in Meridian.

Rencher pleaded guilty May 20 and was released on bond pending sentencing. On May 21, he was picked up on a strong arm robbery charge and has remained in custody since.
