Jackson police officer suffers burns to face

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson police officer was injured after responding to a domestic disturbance call Friday.

According to Officer Colendula Green, two officers and paramedics responded to the scene. The officers were trying to apprehend a man when the man pulled an object out of his pocket and struck one of the officers in the face with it.

The officer suffered 2nd degree burns from the unidentified object, Green said. He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The unidentified suspect is facing multiple charges.
