HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A chain reaction of accidents took place on Highway 49 Monday morning between 7:30 and 9am. It happened near School Road in Harrison County.
Investigators with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the bad weather knocked out a traffic light at the intersection. That, coupled with construction on a nearby bridge, and slippery hydraulic fluid on the road, led to three separate accidents.
Seven vehicles were involved, but luckily there were only a few minor injuries.
Troopers aren't attributing the accidents to the bad weather. They say the chain reaction accidents happened because drivers were following each other too closely.
