Gym in Diamondhead holds grand re-opening

DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

If you live in the Diamondhead community, and you're looking for somewhere to work out, you might want to check out Prestige Fitness Club.

This weekend the newly renovated club showed off some of its new resources during a grand re-opening.

A year of renovations and almost a million dollars later, Prestige Fitness, really lives up to its name. Employees cut the ribbon on the new facility with the help of Former Saints Tight End Boo Williams.

Williams will be offering some speed and sports performance camps for young athletes at the gym.

"Those camps are going to offer a lot of mentorship for these young kids. Not just mentorship, but a lot of athletic based events so these guys can really be on another level once they take the field," said Williams.

Gym Owner, Mike Mills took over the facility in April of 2012. The Diamondhead native says he envisioned the gym, becoming a one stop shop for all your health and wellness needs.

"When we came in and met Dave, we felt that there was potential back here to just really help the community get healthy and provide that all in one health and wellness center that it deserved," said Mills.

One aspect of the gym Mills is most proud of is the lower back and neck center. He told WLOX seven out of ten people suffer from lower back pain. He felt it was something to focus on when it came to upgrades.

"The new equipment works your lower back and your neck. It promotes disk hydration, so it reduces inflammation and swelling. It also reduces pain on the sight, and it strengthens core muscles so it leaves you less susceptible to injury," said Mills.

The 24 hour keyless entry facility offers a vitamin center that includes many dietary supplements. They also have a wide variety of group classes from Zumba to mixed martial arts.
