Donations sweet music for Bay High band

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

Just when it looked like the Bay High Band's trip to Disney World would be canceled, several organizations and business in Hancock County reached into their pockets and have apparently made the fall trip a reality.

Because of donations that poured into the band booster club's account this week, it appears the Bay High band will meet its deadline, and reserve the two charter buses that will take the band to Orlando.

And those donations keep coming in.  The Bay St. Louis Fire Department will be on Highway 90 today asking for drivers to fill a boot, and pledge even more money for the Orlando performance.

The Bay High band needed $12,000 to pay for the trip.  The band held several fundraisers over the last year to cover those costs.  But, earlier this week, the band booster club's treasurer was arrested for allegedly embezzling money from that account.  Her name is Kimberly Luxich.  And she's supposed to be in court on August 21 for a preliminary hearing on the embezzlement charge.

WLOX News reporter Al Showers will be on Highway 90 today, capturing the emotions of this magical time for the Bay High Tiger Band.
