FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

About 80 runners and walkers worked up a sweat during Atmos Energy's first "811 Run" Saturday.

The race started at 8:11 a.m. at the Atmos Energy office in Flowood.

The race was hosted to remind people and raise awareness about the 811 hotline. People are encouraged to call 811 before starting any sort of outdoor digging.

The service is free and allows individuals to have an Energy tech come out and mark underline power, water and sewer lines, so that they're not accidentally hit.
