JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A longtime Jackson businessman who was once a part of WLBT has died.

Earle F. Jones was founder of MMI Hotel Group, which still owns a portfolio of properties across the country.

In the 1970's, Jones was Chairman of the Executive Committee of Communications Improvement, Inc., which operated WLBT after the station's owners were stripped of their FCC license

He was a member of the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame, and he served on the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority and numerous other boards.
