Good Samaritan & good ole seat belt save driver's life

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A Long Beach woman is lucky to be alive after she was airlifted from the scene of a rollover crash Tuesday morning. It happened on Hwy 49 near East Wortham Road when a tire on the car blew out, causing the driver to lose control and overturn.

Officials initially said the driver had life threatening injuries. But by Tuesday night, Casoundra Raines was released from USA Medical Center in Mobile.

Investigators said the 22-year-old may owe her life to witnesses who came to her rescue before authorities arrived. One person in particular had just finished some type of military emergency training and was able to render aid.

On top of that, fire and rescue crews had a quick response, and Raines was wearing her seatbelt.
