GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Gulfport couple is behind bars facing felony child abuse charges after investigators said they found evidence of a meth lab explosion at the home.

Harrison County investigators said the explosion happened Thursday at the family's home on Parker McKay Road. The couple's three children were home at the time.

Joshua Peterson, 24, and Amanda Peterson, 29, were arrested after deputies responded to a call about the welfare of the children.

Further investigation revealed that meth had been manufactured inside the home, and that unstable chemicals used to make the drug may have caused that fire and explosion.

Amanda and Joshua Peterson are each being held on a $250,000 bond.
