JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Captain Jim Adamo with the Biloxi Bomb Squad has confirmed to WLOX News that no explosive was found in a mailbox in Gulf Park Estates, Wednesday morning.

"We initially responded to a call of a possible pipe bomb, but it just turned out to be a piece of metal," Adamo said.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said Deputy Tim Prochillo brought Aragon, a 3-year-old German Shepard that specializes in explosives, apprehension and tracking, to the mailbox. Aragon gave a positive alert at the mailbox, so the Biloxi Bomb Squad and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were called.

The suspicious material was removed around 11am.

In order to protect the victim's identity, investigators will not release the address of the house. The Jackson County Criminal Investigation Division is investigating.
