A Jackson County woman was arrested Monday for allegedly uttering forgery. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department arrested 42-year-old Mary Lynelle Rush of the 7000 block of Cemetery Road in the Big Point Community.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd, Rush is accused of taking a check from someone she knew and forging that person's signature on the check. Byrd said Rush cashed the check at a bank for $200.

She had an initial appearance in Jackson County Court and her bail was set by Judge T. Larry Wilson at $1,000. Rush has been released from the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.

Byrd said, if convicted, the suspect faces up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 fine.
