COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Linda Gale Reed, the former Copiah County bookkeeper who pled guilty last week to embezzlement, is a free woman.

Reed went before a Claiborne County judge Monday and was sentenced to 10 years on one count of embezzlement from her former employer, Moore Fabrication. Her sentence was reduced to time served for the 278 days she spent in jail.

Last week, Reed and her attorney reached a plea deal with prosecutors. Reed also had to pay a 25-thousand dollar fine as part of her restitution.
