HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Authorities have shutdown a portion of I-10 following an 18-wheeler fire. The area is located on the eastbound lanes between mile markers 6 and 7 in Hancock County.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Jason Gazzo, the 18-wheeler caught fire around 2 Monday afternoon.
Troopers, as well as, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and firefighters are on the scene. Gazzo said the trailer is loaded with spinach.
"Luckily it's not a hazardous material burning. However, any vehicle fire poses a threat to other vehicles," Gazzo said. "An 18-wheeler holds several hundred gallons of diesel fuel."
Commuters should expect delays. No injuries have been reported.
