HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Family and friends remember the man who was shot near Pocahontas last weekend.

Nearly 70 people attended a vigil, held last night, at Wood Village Apartments where Lamar Robinson was pronounced dead.

According to Jackson Police, he was shot on Highway 49 near Pocahontas.

His mother, who was driving the vehicle when Robinson was shot, drove him to the Wood Village Apartments.

Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart says Robinson was shot in the head, abdomen, leg, and arm by a large caliber gun. Now, the victim's family is calling for peace while they grieve.

"I drove my son almost 22 miles all the way home dead. I don't know how I'm surviving through this. I don't know how I'm going to make it, but through the grace of God. So, I'm asking you young people please put the guns down. Please put the guns down," Robinson's mother Willie May Taylor pleaded.

Two Bentonia men have been arrested in connection with Robinson's death.

Eddie Perkins, 52,  and Clifton Gordon, 34, are charged with murder, attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and conspiracy to commit murder.
