MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - A Moss Point teenager convicted of murder will head to court this fall hoping for a second chance at freedom. Friday, a Jackson County judge set Tevin Benjamin's trial date for October 14th.
Benjamin was one of several teenagers convicted in the 2008 capital murder case involving a Hattiesburg man. Michael David Porter had stopped at a Moss Point gas station to ask for directions when he was shot during a botched robbery.
Benjamin was 15 when he was sentenced to a life in prison in 2010. But in June, the Supreme Court reversed that decision, saying Benjamin's rights were violated during his statements to police.
