Sharknado headed to a big screen near you?

Posted: Updated:

Social media went wild over Sharknado and now it could be coming to a theater near you.

Syfy hit social media gold earlier this month with Sharknado, a campy movie about a storm that picked up the world's population of sharks and hurled them at pretty B-list stars.

The movie had all the makings of a social media phenomenon even before it aired.

After all, who can pass up a name like Sharknado, an incredible poster and a violent trailer that would make Hollywood's brightest admit they wanted to be part of this guilty pleasure.

It had sharks, tornadoes and Tara Reid, not to mention former Beverly Hills 90210 star Ian Ziering.

If you didn't see the movie, you surely saw the #Sharknado buzz on your Twitter and Facebook pages.

Now the storm is coming to the big screen for one night only at select Regal, Edwards, and UA Cinemas.

Tickets are selling for $12.50 and will be shown at midnight on Friday, August 2nd.

Several days after the made-for-tv movie aired the first time, SyFy made bad movie lovers' year when they announced there was a Sharknado 2 in the works and you can name it!

Viewers who tweet their best original titles for the sequel will be picked as the name of the second round of vicious, man-eating storms.

"Sharknado 2 is coming – and you can name it! Tweet titles to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado. SyFy will select the best and use it!" they boast on their website.
