The "Road to Life" campaign is saving lives

FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi Blood Services, WLBT and Howard Wilson Chrysler Jeep Dodge are sponsoring the 5th annual "Road to Life" campaign. If you donate blood between now and September 4th you can qualify to win a brand new Jeep Wrangler. A finalist is chosen each week. The giveaway is September 6th.

On Thursday morning WLBT met up with 12 year-old Beyonce McCoy. McCoy who is from Forrest, MS and has O+ blood has sickle cell disease. This past spring McCoy was admitted to the hospital after suffering a stroke. In her lifetime she's had ten blood transfusions.

"I had a stroke and blood transfusions, they helped me stay out of the hospital and help me get healthy and they mean the world to me, they might have hurt, but they mean a lot to me," said McCoy.

It's easy to donate blood. All you have to do is head over to the Mississippi Blood Services at 115 Tree Street in Flowood. For more information call 601-981-3232.
