Barnett Reservoir considering new fees

Posted: Updated:
MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District is considering user fees for boaters, hunters and campers at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

The proposal came out most recently in a publication put out by the district call "Gator Tales." It is not a new idea.

"Frankly, we have reached the point where we have to find new sources of revenue," said PRVWSD Board Chairman Jack Winstead.

We have learned that a $35 annual sticker is being discussed for boats that use the reservoir.

It's only a proposal at this point. It has been tried before but the legislature objected and they backed off.
