There's always something to do around the Gulf Coast. This weekend many events are happening outdoors.

Bring your kayak, canoe or stand-up board to the Ocean Springs Yacht Club for the 2nd Annual Kayak Benefit Pink Paddle Race. You'll paddle for three miles and finish at the Biloxi Yacht Club. Awards will be given. All proceeds benefit Pink Heart Funds. The strict deadline to register for the race is Friday, July 26. Also, no shuttle service will be offered, so plan accordingly. Help wounded veterans who have lost their limbs by participating in Gulf Coast Vetsport Warrior Athletic Gala's 5k walk and run. The morning walk is Saturday starting and ending at Gautier's new fountain. Ocean Springs July Sidewalk Sale

Mississippi's annual tax holiday begins Friday and wraps up Saturday at midnight and several retail stores want to give you a big bang for your buck. In Ocean Springs, businesses downtown, uptown and all around town are participating in this year's July sidewalk sale. These stores are offering special sales and light refreshments to keep you going while you shop. Restaurants are also offering deals. Click the link to view sale details:

The public is invited to take part in the protected by angels party on Saturday, July 27. Guest speakers will discuss home foreclosures and ways to keep the youth out of trouble. Residents in Jackson and Harrison counties are invited to attend. The guest speakers include Bar Kays member Ben Cauley who is the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed Otis Redding, Operation Help Civil Rights Group of Memphis and several others. There will also be live performances and free food including barbecue, chicken wings and more. Organizers said the purpose of this event is to bring community members together. The event begins Saturday at 3 p.m. and is being held at 13013 Highway 613 in Moss Point.

Star Wars Fans will love the Galactic Meet and Greet at Gulf Islands Waterpark on Saturday July 27. Meet Darth Vader, humanoids and droids hosted by the Rancor Raiders 501st Legion. Bring your own camera to take photos with your favorite characters. Gates open at 10:00am and the meet and greet  starts at 1:00pm. It's all included with admission ticket or season pass, so there is no extra charge.

    A pedestrian was struck and killed, another seriously injured, and a Biloxi man is behind bars after an early morning wreck in the Hub City.  Justin Williamson, 25, of Biloxi, was arrested and charged with DUI-negligence resulting in death after an early morning crash on U.S. 49 by Interstate-59 and according to Hattiesburg Police Department Capt.
