OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

An Ocean Springs family called the WLOX newsroom to tell us about their hero, who restored their faith in mankind. It all started with one Facebook post and one very generous women who gave a special needs child his favorite toy back.

"I can't stress how much I was enraged that I find out my son's slide was stolen," Andrew Martinez said.

The Martinez family was furious the day they came outside to find someone had stolen their son Trevor's water slide. They say their 6-year-old has autism and doesn't speak yet, but always came to life on his favorite new toy.

"The day the slide got taken, we couldn't explain to him that the slide wasn't here anymore," mom Tiffany Martinez said. "He kept going to the shed and wanting his slide to come out. We couldn't explain that to him because of his speech and that's what made us more mad."

So, Tiffany pleaded on Facebook for it to be returned. The slide didn't come back, but they got something even better. A new slide and a new friend, who they now call their guardian angel - Ms. Reba Johnson.

Johnson's daughter in Texas saw Tiffany's post on Facebook and texted her mom about it.

"Oh, it just tears me up for some child like that, and especially a child with special needs, for somebody to go in and steal something like that, it's just unbelievable," Reba Johnson said.

So, the Ocean Springs retiree bought Trevor a bigger and better, $450 water slide. His parents were overwhelmed by her generous gift.

"I do cry," Tiffany said. "I've cried every day."

"It's just amazing to know that there's people still out there that would actually care about somebody they don't even know," Andrew said.

"It makes me feel good, yes," Reba said. "I just can't stand to imagine a child hurt."

"It makes him happy," Tiffany Martinez said. "He loves water. That right there, water, trampolines, that's all him, you know. He loves it."
