SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - When running outside it's always important to take extra precautions. After a woman was killed by a motorcyclist while jogging last week, law enforcement want you to be aware.
If the hot temperatures aren't enough to keep you indoors, always practice safety measures to avoid becoming a victim. Biloxi Police Public Information Officer Jackie Rhodes gave us some tips on how to protect yourself.
"If you're going to jog anywhere other than a closed track you need to be seen. Whether you're jogging during the day light hours or at night, make sure you wear bright clothing so that you can be seen," said Rhodes.
Another good tip is to never make assumptions about drivers. Be sure they have come to a complete stop before you cross the road. Better yet, try to stay off road ways and run on sidewalks or in parks.
