2 face murder charges in Hwy. 49 drive-by shooting

Charges have been filed in two counties against two Bentonia men in connection with the shooting death of a Jackson man on Highway 49 last weekend.

Fifty-two-year-old Eddie Perkins and 34-year-old Clifton Gordon are charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle in Hinds County. They are also charged with attempted aggravated assault in Yazoo County

Lamar Robinson, 24, was shot and killed Saturday as he traveled south on U.S. 49 in Hinds County near the Madison County line at about 1:30 a.m.

Robinson was in a vehicle with his mother when his was shot. Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart says he was wounded in the head, abdomen, leg and arm with a large caliber weapon.

His mother continued to the Wood Village Apartments in Jackson where he was pronounced dead.

The Hinds and Yazoo County sheriff's departments are continuing the investigation and more charges may be filed.
