MSU again surpasses $80M mark in donations

Posted: Updated:

STARKVILLE, MS (AP) - Mississippi State University is reporting its third-straight year of more than $80 million in donations.

MSU officials say in a news release that fundraising totaled in $81.3 million from outright gifts and pledges from various sources, including individuals, corporations, foundations, trusts and estates, for fiscal year 2013.

MSU officials say the school received $86.4 million in FY 2012 and more than $80 million in FY 2011.

Donations are calculated by adding outright gifts, pledges of new gifts and deferred gifts, Rush said in the release. The figure does not include payment of pledges from previous years or receipts of deferred gifts.

John Rush, MSU vice president for development and alumni who serves as the MSU Foundation CEO, says Mississippi State will soon be announcing another long-term fundraising campaign this fall.
