VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two people are hospitalized after an accident Saturday afternoon which involved a part that broke off of a trailer and crashed through the windshield of another vehicle.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of interstate 20 near mile marker 538.

Authorities tell KLTV that one vehicle was towing a trailer and that the brake drum broke off of that trailer. The broken part then crashed through the front windshield of another vehicle. Two people in the second vehicle were care-flighted to a hospital with serious injuries, but their exact condition is not known. Their names have not yet been released.

The accident was cleared a short time later.
