JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson mother has been arrested in the death of her 1-year-old son.

Tiffany Manifield has been charged with capital murder, according to Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department.

One-year-old Tyree McDonald died July 18 at a Jackson hospital from massive head trauma and skull fractures, according to Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart.

Officer Green said officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of Hair Street in Jackson at 9:12 p.m. July 18. Tyree was found unresponsive and paramedics rushed him to the hospital, Green said.

The coroner says Tyree was pronounced dead at 9:34 p.m. July 18.
