BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - A man wanted for a Louisiana bank robbery was arrested in Bay St. Louis late Thursday night. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force caught up with Justin Seawright, 32, at the Economy Inn on Highway 90.
The Baton Rouge man was wanted for allegedly holding up a Whitney Bank in Lafayette Wednesday afternoon. KATC-TV reported that the robber got away with a bag of money, but he dropped the cash and his gun when a dye pack in the bag exploded.
Police believe the getaway car used in the robbery was stolen from a woman at gunpoint the night before in a grocery store parking lot.
The U.S. Marshals said they received information that Seawright was on the coast, and called Bay St. Louis police to help bring him in. The suspect was arrested at the hotel without incident shortly before midnight.
Seawright is being held in Hancock County, awaiting extradition to Lafayette.
