(RNN) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott Thursday night met with protesters that have been waiting for days at his office to talk to him about what they see as a public safety issue. For now, though, he has refused to meet their demands.

The Dream Defenders stayed at the governor's office in Tallahassee for three days in an effort to convince the governor to call a special legislative session to repeal the state's Stand Your Ground law.

Not getting the answer they wanted, they plan to continue sitting in, according to CNN.

The law has been under fire after the acquittal of George Zimmerman Saturday in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

Earlier this week, Scott said he still supported the 2005 law, according to the Miami Herald. Last year, the law was reviewed by a task force, which recommended no changes, according to Scott.

Zimmerman's acquittal has roused mostly peaceful protests nationwide all week, and they show no sign of ebbing, with rallies planned for major cities across the nation Saturday to demand a Justice Department investigation into Trayvon's death, according to CNN.
