Council confirms Jackson police, fire chiefs

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Capital City officially has new police and fire chiefs.

The Jackson City Council confirmed Mayor Chokwe Lumumba's choices after public hearings.

Lindsey Horton, 61, will serve as police chief. He was promoted from deputy chief and joined the force in 1985.

Willie Owens,64, retired as division chief in 2005. He'll now head up the Jackson Fire Department.
