College football news: Ole Miss & Southern Miss

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze is rebuilding the Rebels and is doing so in quick fashion.

In his first season as the Rebels head coach, Freeze led Ole Miss to a 7-6 record, leading his team past Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl.

Ole Miss could become one of the surprise teams in the nation thanks to the return of 8 starters on offense, highlighted by quarterback Bo Wallace.  He passed for 2,994 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2012.   The defense returns all starters.

After signing one of the top recruiting classes in the nation in February, he's off to another good recruiting season with outstanding verbal commitments.

At Tuesday's SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama Freeze commented about questions surrounding his his recruiting process.

He said,"Our compliance office and our legal representation is representing every single thing that has been thrown at us. That gets very old but I do know this we're not perfect and if we have made any mistakes along the way it will be found and it will be reported. "

"I know the way we're doing things and I'm not concerned about anything that our coaches are out intentionally doing. I know they're not and I have great confidence in our process," Freeze added.

Ole Miss junior wide receiver Donte Moncrief has been named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

In 2012 Moncrief hauled in 66 catches for 979 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Award will be presented on December 12, 2013.
