A Hinds County detention officer has been fired and is facing charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with an inmate. The jailer's ex-husband reportedly turned her in.

According to investigators, inmate Keenan O'Neal admitted to having an intimate relationship with Melony Conwright who was assigned to the Hinds County Joint State -- County Work Center.

According to investigators, Conwright's ex-husband gave them documents that showed Melony Conwright referring to the inmate as a "father figure" to her children on Facebook.

According to investigators, during questioning O'Neal admitted that on his last weekend pass May 3, Conwright picked him up at his sister's apartment and the two went to a north Jackson hotel and had intercourse.

Melony Conwright is facing charges of sex with an inmate by an officer, which is a felony. She had been on the job for nearly a year.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the inmate was transferred back to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He had been serving time for possession of cocaine.
