D'Iberville, St. Martin give a Taste of the Bay

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

Everything from grilled oysters and shrimp etouffee to tamales and wine could be found in D'Iberville Monday night at the first ever Taste of the Bay. Restaurants in D'Iberville and St. Martin teamed up to show off some of their best local cuisine.

President of the D'Iberville Chamber of Commerce, Jerry Dodge, said they have been looking to do an event like this for some time.

"What a great venue. All the merchants and all the restaurants get a chance to showcase their products. So we thought, well why not do that right down here in Central Avenue. We've just spent millions of dollars refurbishing our street," said Dodge.

Chamber officials said Monday night's event was meant to be a test run, of sorts, to see if the location, venue, and time would work for future events. Based on the attendance, it appeared to be a winning combination.

"Hanging out with friends and family and being here, this is the first event D'iberville has really had as a fundraiser. I think it's going to be a really great attribute to the community," said Dronet.

Attendees said they enjoyed getting to taste test dishes from so many of the different restaurants in their community.
