JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A fairly new website and app is helping neighbors stay aware of what's happening in their communities.

Nextdoor is a secure internet site similar to an online neighborhood association.

Belhaven resident Judith Thompson created her community's Nextdoor page in March.

From her Smartphone or her PC, Thompson can get regular updates from her neighbors about what's going on in Belhaven. Earlier this week, one of Thompson's neighbors wrote a post warning about the theft at Pizza Shack Thursday night.

"Being able to share that information very quickly and in a very secure site is very useful," said Thompson.

Check out Nextdoor's website for information on the app.
