Shepherd of the Gulf holds 3rd annual picnic for the homeless

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Helping the homeless is one of the main focuses of the Shepherd of the Gulf organization. From donating goods to making sure those in need are fed, this group helps make it happen.

Today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. volunteers with Shepherd of the Gulf will hold a picnic for the homeless at Hiller Park in Biloxi.

Something as simple as lunch can make the day of a homeless person. Donations are welcome or simply come to bring fellowship.

If you're interested in making a donation, here are some items that can be used, ice, ice chests, canned goods, non-perishable food items, snacks, soap-disposable razors-shaving cream-wash cloth-bath towel-shampoo-deodorant-hair comb-hand mirror-tooth brush-tooth paste-mosquito repellant-moist wipes-large print Bible-flashlight w/ batteries-back packs-CTA bus passes-camping supplies such as tents-sleeping bags-camp cook stoves- propane cylinders- etc.

Monetary donations can be made at any Hancock Bank location under Shepherd of the Gulf, Inc. a nonprofit 501(c)3 account. Hiller Park is located driving east on Pass Road Biloxi, turn left on Hiller Drive, follow around to pavilion by the water.
