Talent, swimwear winners named in Miss Mississippi pageant

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two more contestants can put checks in the win column at the Miss Mississippi pageant.

In talent, Hannah Roberts, Miss University of Southern Mississippi was the winner with her violin performance. The Mount Olive native hopes to be a pediatric oncologist and hopes to train at St. Jude Children's Hospital.

"I've been playing since I was five, so this will be my 15th year. And the song that I played, I actually saw Itzhak Perlman, the famous violinist, play it when I was in third grade at Bennett Auditorium at USM," explains Roberts.

The swimwear competition brought a third win for Chelsea Rick, Miss Amory Railroad Festival. Rick was fourth runner up to Miss Mississippi last year.

"It was really, I'm sure it was a close race and I was just trying to really just be myself out there and try to be comfortable. I think that's the most important thing is just having a confidence about you, cause everybody's body here looks fantastic," exclaims Rick.

Katie Stam-Irk, Miss America 2009, is host of this year's pageant along with Michael Young.

The Miss Mississippi pageant will air live Saturday night at 8 p.m. on WLBT and MSNewsNow.com.
