STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Stone County deputies say they're looking for an alleged gang member who allegedly shot a victim on Sunday morning.
The suspect's name is Carrington Breland. The sheriff says Breland is one of two people linked to the shooting.
The gunshots were fired around 1:30 Sunday morning in a vacant lot off Thelma Andrews Road. "This happened at a place out in the country we've been trying to shut down," Stone County Sheriff Mike Farmer said. According to his investigators, the Sunday shootout was in retaliation for an incident three days earlier.
The sheriff said the victim was shot in the neck and leg by two different shooters.
Investigators say one shooting suspect is already in custody. They developed Breland as a suspect after talking with witnesses, and with the victim. "Finally the guy admitted to it," said the sheriff.
A news release from a Stone County investigator says Breland is considered armed and dangerous.
